Abstract

Provides an overview looking at recent developments in the design and specification of doors and windows and related topics, such as security, ironmongery and fire. It also covers relevant legislation, guidelines and provides suggestions for good practice specification. This article then goes on to look at three projects: Cityspace, University of Sunderland (Faulkner-Browns Architects), Gloucester Studios (De Metz Forbes Knight Architects) and Tom Reilly Building, Liverpool John Moores University (Austin-Smith:Lord). Includes a Product Matrix section focussing on automatic sliding doors and a costs section.
