Abstract

Describes the results of a study carried out under a Shepherd/AJ award. Explores the potential of glass, based on the exploitation of the material's properties and current fabrication technology. Looks at load-bearing capacity and experience gained from three projects: the Yurakucho Canopy at the Tokyo International Forum; a glass staircase ramp for Daiwoo headquarters offices, Seoul, South Korea; glass facade, Samsung Jong-Ro office building, Seoul.
